so, i’m a little stunned. a couple of days ago, i receive an e-mail saying that i’ve successfully registered for the 26th annual social work day at the united nations building in new york. uh, i know.
how did this happen? i got an e-mail a couple of weeks ago about this scholarship for 10 BSW and MSW students to each get $600 to go to New York to go to this conference. All we had to do is write an essay about an international perspective on social work. I wrote mine about domestic violence and being Indian (and India), just on a whim. Guess that I…uh, won? I’m one of the few BSWs to have been chosen, which makes me really excited!
So, April 4-7th, I’m going to New York. I think. I have no place to stay, no flight, no real money (outside the scholarship, which isn’t much in NY), but I’m going! And I won something (I never win anything!)
Anyway, if any of the people who actually read this know of a cheap, safe place to stay in NYC, let me know. I’m needing a place to stay, ASAP.
